Tomato Market Report April 15, 2015

Tomato Market:

The Florida market is steady for the moment; production is increasing slightly and opportunities may be available with volume orders in the next week or so.

There is good volume available from Mexico but pricing ranges, and beware that quality can vary greatly from one lot to the next. Grape tomatoes remain on the higher end of the price spectrum, and their quality varies the greatest.

Organics: Production from Mexico is still increasing. Romas are becoming more available. There are a few sporadic quality hiccups, but quality is generally good.

Heirlooms: Heirloom season is upon us. Demand is picking up but supply continues to be hit or miss. We are working through quality challenges with every lot. The market is mixed but elevated overall.
